Tucked away in the historical centre of Havana, the Hostal del Tejadillo is one of Cuba's best value hotels around. If you get your choice of room, it offers seeming 5 star quality at 3 star price, though when it's crowded the choice of room makes for a less magical stay. There are 32 rooms - all of which are air conditioned, and each evokes the colonial style of the 18th and 19th century mansions and feels especially welcoming with cast-iron lamps, hand made wooden furniture and colourful artwork to please each guest's aesthetic senses. Cuba's Tejadillo hotel's facilities at times feel oddly fractured in an eccentric manner, and this is actually because the accommodation is made up of three restored mansions.
Perhaps the best selling point of Havana's Tejadillo hotel is the location of the place, which easily allows you to take in the majority of the sights without the need to take a taxi. The most impressive one of these local sights is the Cathedral, which the Hostal Tejadillo in Cuba names its breakfast room after.
With three guest houses combined into one, it's no surprise that the hotel Tejadillo in Havana offers variable quality between its rooms, but for the location, the risk of getting a room not quite as luxurious as you would like is well worth taking.

Hotel was lovely, in such a good central location right next to the Cathedral Sq, staff were very friendly and helpful and the room was huge with nice a/c and safe, good shower too and always had hot water! Breakfast was nice, dinner not as great, but that is more a reflection of Cuban food overall as opposed to the hotel. Definitely recommended for a stay in Havana as it's a great base to explore the city from and such a pretty building. N.O. in July 2009
