This famous building has graced Havana's skyline since the 1930s and is one of the city's most enduring and endearing landmarks. Imposingly set in spacious grounds on the Malecon at the seafront, the hotel offers breathtaking views out to sea and across the city

Havana is a real experience and our four short days were filled with fascinating experiences of Cuban life. We made two bookings to meet with guides, who didn't show, but found that making our own way around was fun and the people warm and friendly. The hotel was a faded but its atmospheric time warp was magical. Sensational cuban music shows are not to be missed. The dining room service and food is circa 70's and the Nacional Liquer Coffee wonderful. T.L. in April 2008
